Micaela + Max – Venice Canals, California

I had the pleasure of meeting Micaela and Max in Los Angeles when I was visiting a friend.

Since I am in love with the idea of young love and passionate couples, I was so excited to work with Micaela and Max.

My friend connected us and then details for the session were figured out. We were going to meet early Saturday morning before things got too busy to uncover the Venice Canals near Venice Beach. 

To my surprise (coming from Canada), California was cold! Not as cold as home obviously but it was chillier than I expected. Fortunately, there were blue skies for most of the trip. However, things were a little different early on. The morning of the shoot it was foggy, you couldn't even see the palm trees! The water of the canal wasn't the prettiest and to my dismay, the canals weren't closed off, they were basically the main access road. I was a little disappointed because this was my first destination shoot. Although, as we started to shoot and the two of them got their jitters out, the fog started to lift and the sun poked through the clouds. Everything was going as planned. The canals turned out to be beautiful and such a unique location to shoot! 

The two of them were playful in front of the camera and took direction when needed. It was a great opportunity to meet a couple that lives a completely different lifestyle from everyone back home. Their sense of adventure is apparent, however, it's more relaxed, which is one of the reasons why I love to travel and meet new people. I am very thankful that they wanted to shoot with me and give me the opportunity to grow outside my typical market in Southern Ontario.
